The regular websites that have both positive and negative reviews dont have to worry about a negative impact on their Google SEO rankings. There is hardly a company or site that has only good things to say about it. Google strives to provide relevant and diverse search results based on a variety of signals and factors. Negative reviews about a company are far from the only factor that determines its ranking in search results. Google evaluates many other factors content quality site authority reputation and many other signals to give users more accurate search results.
On August at a meeting for webmasters John Mueller CN Numbers stated that the number of reviews on a site does not directly affect its position in the search results. The question was Does Google take into account the number of customers and reviews when ranking sites in search results John Muellers answer Google does not consider the number of customers or reviews when ranking sites in search results. These factors can be taken into account if we show them as a rich result in a search such as Google My Business but for organic search they are not as important.
On July in a video conference John Mueller was asked the following question I recently Googled the name of my brand and on the first page I saw a resource where users write reviews about sites including mine. affect my site How will the negative sentiment on this page affect the visibility of my companys website in Google results John Muellers response I dont think these reviews will negatively impact your sites ranking. Even if people see such reviews in search results for your business name they will likely go to that review site and get lost there. But it is not a fact that the existence of such a page will negatively affect your site.
